Forget Golden Eggs, Blue Goose Cafe Is the Real Treasure

Beautiful people, beautiful plates, and a beautiful blue goose - Blue Goose Cafe has it all.

Unlike the fable, this is a story about real people, amazing food, and beautiful moments. Sometimes in life things don't go the way we wanted. As a matter of fact, this was not the original place I wanted to eat. However, when we roll with the punches and march forward, amazing experiences tend to find us. When I found Blue Goose Cafe, I found something more authentic than I could have ever hoped for.
Upon entering and seeing the kind blue walls, the rustic feel of the tables, and the endless chatter that filled the restaurant, I knew I had found something worth more than any amount of golden eggs.
Walking into the restaurant it is very clear that this is a local favorite. The servers converse with the customers who all seem to be regulars. I'm sure that is not always the case, but you will feel right at home. This is a family operated business and you can tell. Everyone is very welcoming and kind — from the servers greeting you, to the cooks who wave through the kitchen window, to even the dishwasher who is the kindest lady ever.
Upon being seated and given a menu, I looked it over to find some of the best prices I've seen in a long time. Appetizers under five dollars! As they say, when in Rome. We ordered the mozzarella sticks — a classic and one of our favorite appetizers of all time. As a lover of all things cheese, mozzarella sticks are always a perfect segue into the entrée. The delicious and light marinara, the perfect breading, and the fine cheese pulls — sometimes it's the simple, familiar ingredients that keep pulling us back to meals we know cannot fail.
For my entrée, I had the corned beef hash and cheese omelet. I've eaten countless omelets in my life. This one was different. All of the flavors combined into a perfect breakfast blast the moment I bit into it. However, that's not all. Blue Goose Cafe offers two homemade salsas perfect for every bite — one hot and one mild. Having done many spicy food challenges, I was a bit overzealous with the hot salsa, certain it would be underwhelming. I could not have been more wrong. My first bite pleasantly surprised both me and my taste buds with a very nice burn and punch of flavor. Whatever troubles I may have had brewing in my head instantly went away. This is exactly what I look for in a salsa. It centered my attention on my plate and I could not stop myself until I had consumed every last bite. Thankfully the entrée comes with toast, which I enjoyed with jam and finished with my coffee — from a nice kick of heat to a pleasant sweet ending, this meal had it all. Never once were the beans, corned beef hash, eggs, onion, and bell pepper overpowered by the salsa. This is a must try and I highly recommend it. Just be careful with how much hot sauce you use — that is the only possible regret you could have when visiting Blue Goose Cafe.
I will never forget the joy eating here brought me. I know that if I am ever in the area, this is where I'll be. So once again — this isn't just some tall tale. This is an amazing restaurant with its own amazing story. The treasure here isn't just the great food. It's the great people and the experiences everyone shares inside the Blue Goose Cafe.
