The Priceless Recipe
So you decided to sleep in and missed breakfast? Well this is the perfect solution for you.
Good day, everyone. This is a shorter review, but for good reason.
I was very impressed by the entire design of this restaurant. It's not too often that the look from the outside draws me into a place — walking in, that same feeling carries straight through the doors. Dim, artful chandelier lights over every table and booth set the perfect mood for brunch. The smell of a room that's already fed a dozen people that morning. A beautiful, minimalist black Swiss sign design on a clean white wall. I picked a table in the corner, where the chandelier light caught the steam from my coffee before it even reached my lips. It's the kind of room that promises a lot before a single plate arrives. The question was whether the kitchen could keep up.
I would've never imagined eggs benedict could get any better. I've never seen the option to have it with chicken at any restaurant I've been to — so when I scanned the menu and saw "chicken" and "benedict" in the same line, it was an instant decision. The Kickin' Chicken Benedict features poached eggs and two fried chicken thighs, still crackling on arrival. Thinly sliced jalapenos, cut just enough to bite back, plus extra heat from a very unique jalapeno hollandaise — all sitting atop soft buttermilk biscuits. Served with potatoes your way; I recommend American fry style. Spoiler: the kitchen didn't just meet the moment — they surprised me so much I wanted to buy the recipe.
Everything in this dish worked. The potatoes, cooked perfectly to a creamy consistency. Eggs covering every inch of chicken. The chicken crispy yet juicy, and that jalapeno hollandaise made for a combo I never knew I needed. I don't think I've ever had this reaction to a dish before — good thing the chef didn't entertain my offer, because I might've paid more than I should have, haha.
I won't be back for a while, but I hope this stays on the menu. I'd love to order it again next time I'm in Muskegon, Michigan.
This location is worth visiting, no question. I only covered one dish today, but I can already tell every plate here is made with passion. Brunch House, thank you — and my highest appreciation to the chef.
